Obituary for Nicholas E. Bishop

Nicholas Edwin Bishop, age 33, formerly of Delton, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was born on March 28, 1990.

Nick attended Delton Kellogg School. He enjoyed many things as a young person including Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, running cross country track and riding and tinkering with bikes. Nick liked to take things apart to see how they worked and try to put them back together. Nick liked to help in the kitchen with baking and cooking as a kid and maintained that love of cooking as an adult. He enjoyed many areas of 4-H but his favorite was showing poultry. He had many different breeds of show birds and enjoyed raising market poultry projects each year as well. He also participated in many open poultry shows including the Ohio National Poultry Show. Nick loved all animals and received a cockatiel that he named Mike for his 8th birthday. He enjoyed running RC trucks and building model rockets with his Dad. He loved to go camping and exploring.

As an adult Nick still enjoyed exploring and traveling in his van and he lived a "home free" lifestyle with his constant companions, his faithful dogs Elsa and Winston. He traveled through many states including Florida, Georgia and Louisiana. He was a self taught mechanic and very good with repairing engines. He especially liked to work on mopeds.

All of his life he enjoyed fishing. He loved the annual family fishing trip to Ludington in the fall to catch salmon. As a kid if he couldn't get someone to take him fishing, he would ride his bike to a nearby lake to fish. He could often be found on some fishing excursion with his cousin, Seth.

Nick was preceeded in death by his maternal grandfather Bruce Spaulding and his paternal grandfather Roger Bishop.

He is survived by his Parents Ed and Abbie Bishop, his son James Bailey, grandmothers Marilyn Spaulding and Bettly Bishop. Aunts and Uncles; Scott Spaulding, Tony & Amy (Spaulding) Lorenz, Andy Spaulding, Robbie Spaulding, Margie Bishop, Roger and Angie Bishop and many cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Hickory Corners Bible Church, 13720 Kellogg School Road, Hickory Corners, MI. 49060 on Sunday, June 4, 2023 at 4:00pm. A dinner will follow.
