Obituary for Ovonah J. Warner

Ovonah J. Warner

Ovonah Jean Warner, born on January 8, 1940, passed away on November 7, 2022. She is now at peace in Heaven with her parents, Melvin and Dorothy Blanchard and her brother, Marvin. Ovonah no longer has to struggle with the frustrating disease of Alzheimer’s. Ovonah grew up on a small farm with her surviving siblings: Joyce, Dean, Audrey and Gayle. Ovonah graduated from Richland High School in 1958. She attended Alma College majoring in math. Upon graduation, she worked for IBM where she became very interested in computers. On February 2, 1963, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard (Dick) Warner. A couple of years later, she started her most important job (her words), being a mom. Once her kids were in school, she took more classes from WMU and then started teaching math and computers to adult education and high school students. She ended her career with the Galesburg-Augusta school system working as the payroll clerk. When Ovonah wasn’t busy attending all the events her kids and grandkids participated in; she loved reading, puzzle solving, sewing, cake decorating, and looking for treasures in thrift stores. Ovonah’s love will forever be in the hearts of her beloved husband, Dick; her children: Allen Warner and Kathleen (Harold) Barnum; her grandchildren: Phillip (Holly), Alicia, Lance Warner and Taylor (Kacie Ferguson) and Holly Barnum; and her great grandchildren: Aiden and Henry Warner. Ovonah’s family will receive friends on Thursday, November 10, 2022, 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon at New Hope Covenant Church, where her funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon. Burial will take place in Fort Custer National Cemetery. Memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association will be appreciated.
