Steven C. Schaffer, age 72 of Delton, passed away on May 25, 2022. Steven was born on February 20, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of Jack and Rita (Sutton) Schaffer. Steven proudly served his county in the United States Army during Vietnam and he was awarded the Purple Heart after losing his spleen and a rib. Steven loved to hunt and fish, especially with “Half Pint” the Pomeranian who loved eating his catch. He also loved birds of all kinds but hummingbirds were his favorite. Steven enjoyed bird calling and he could tell the type of bird by its call. He even had a pet bird that loved him and taught a crow to talk. Steven was a sci-fi aficionado and had an eclectic music collection. He had a great sense of humor, and his daughter fondly remembers the time she changed his computer background from the leggy bikini ladies to nuns. He loved to drive out on frozen lakes and do donuts with his kids and was an excellent grandpa to his grandkids. He would always find a way to sneak them sips of pop, give them snacks and pretzels, and play the occasional prank. Steven is survived by his wife, Rebecca (Smith) Schaffer; children: Tonya (Christopher) Bowman, Steven Jack (Sharon) Schaffer, Dustin Wholaver, Jarrod (Ben) Schaffer-Steele, Shawn (Ashley) Smith, Stephanie (Mark) Wehr; grandchildren: Brandon Bowman, Dylan Schaffer, Erika Smith, Conner Wehr, Kristofer Smith, Hannah Wehr, Mason Smith; two great grandchildren; brothers: Biff (Jackie) Schaffer, Kent Schaffer, Carmel Hoover; and several nieces and nephews.
