Obituary for Charles E. Eggers

Charles Elwood Eggers, age 83 of Hastings, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 17, 2022. Charles was born on May 9, 1938 in Harman, Virginia to Carl and Annie (Page) Eggers, and raised in the coal mining camp of Caretta West Virginia, and he loved those Blue Ridge Mountain roots of his. He proudly served his country as an Airman in the US Air Force. He then went on to work at Bradford White for over 42 years. Charles was a member of the National American Legion and the UAW Local 1002. In his younger years he spent his free time playing golf and bowling. He enjoyed a competitive game of euchre and also tending to his flower garden. Although Charles was a quiet man, he was a hardworking one with a very strong worth ethic. He was a good man of strong faith and dedicated his life to the Lord and his family. Charles will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Carolyn; children: Randy (Heather) Eggers, Rodney (Monica) Eggers, Valerie (Bob) Satterfield, Lisa (Paul) Standler, Julie (Dennis) Tagg, Jeff (Angie) Tinkler; his sister, Patsy Rakes; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Also siblings-in-law Dorothy Bessmer, Dixie Wilson, Diane Hills, Ron (Lorna) Baker, Russ Baker. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Donna; siblings: Carl, Bob, George, Marcella and Brenda. Relatives and friends may meet with Charles’ family on Saturday, April 30 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Hastings Free Methodist Church 2635 M-43 Hastings MI 49058 where a memorial service will take place at 1:00 P.M., Pastor Brian Teed officiating.
