Sharon Kay Treuter, age 63 of Middleville, passed away peacefully, yet unexpectedly on June 8, 2021 in her home where she lived with the love of her life for over 40 years, raised three children, and loved two grandchildren. Sharon was born on August 27, 1957 in Detroit to William and Ella Kissee. She loved being outdoors, and taking in the beauty of her surroundings. If she wasn’t watching the birds enjoying her feeders, or tending to her flowers and garden, you might find her walking the roads near her home, and even picking up litter or waving at friends driving past. Sharon left every place she visited better for having been there. She was passionate about staying active with her walking, swimming the 2 miles around Bassett Lake with her husband in the summers, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. It never mattered the temperature or even the weather, it was easy to count on seeing Sharon appreciating the world around her in any way that she could. For over 25 years she worked cleaning houses in the Middleville area, and was beloved by her clients. In any spare time, she could often be found baking cookies and other treats for her loved ones or her husband’s coworkers, devouring books, completing intricate puzzles, or caring for her incredible collection of house plants. Sometimes to relax she might settle in and watch her favorite show, “The Wild, Wild West”. Sharon was an exceptionally loving woman with a contagious laugh that could brighten anyone’s mood. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially elephants, but she shared that love with caring for many dogs over the years as well. Sharon’s family was immensely important to her, and she loved spending time with all of them, especially her grandkids. Her husband will always say that she was the truest rock of the family. Beyond all worldly things, Sharon loved God fiercely, and placed His worship at the forefront of her life. She demonstrated true love and faith at each step of her days, and passed that devotion to everyone around her, especially Mark. Sharon will be deeply, and dearly missed by her loving husband of over 40 years, Mark Treuter; her beloved children: Luke, Serena, and Wendy; precious grandchildren, Emmett and Zoey; dear brothers, Mark (Cathy) Kissee, Larry Kissee; and several treasured nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, and joins them now in heaven. Per Sharon’s wishes cremation has taken place and no services will be planned at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barry County Humane Society on her behalf. Please visit to share a memory, or leave a message of condolence for Sharon’s family. The world certainly was made better for having Sharon Treuter a part of this brief life.

My heart goes out to you Mark and your family. I remember both of you from Morningstar Church. I loved her smile and her energy. She will be missed so much. And she told me the hugs we gave each other meant so much to her.
