Obituary for Kyle J. Whitener

Whitener, Kyle J.

Kyle James Whitener, age 34, passed away unexpectedly on May 20, 2021. He was baptized, saved, and is now with the Lord.

Kyle was born on February 9, 1987 in Hastings, Michigan. He is survived by his parents, Dennis Whitener and Diane Dowell; sister, Lyndsey Whitener; nephews Davon (11) and Reece (3) Moore; grandmother Wanda Whitener; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Lynne Whitener; cousin Benjamin Burns; and grandparents: Dennis and Elaine (Hutchings) Dowell, and Harry Whitener.

Kyle was a 2005 graduate of Delton Kellogg High School. He took pride in his work as an item classifier at Goodwill Industries and most recently was a maintenance tech at Hampton Inn and Suites.

Kyle was very active in addiction recovery by attending meetings and encouraging and helping others in their recovery process. He completed and graduated from the Swift and Sure program this month after two years of hard work.

Kyle enjoyed spending time on the water, taking walks, his tattoo artistry, and watching movies. Most of all, Kyle loved his family and treasured spending time with them, especially his nephews. He and his sister shared a very great and special bond--like twins born on different dates.

Kyle’s memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Faith United Methodist Church, Pastor Rick Christy officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Moose Lodge in Delton, from 2:00-5:00pm.
