Cassidy Leigh Vander Poppen, age 34 of Alto, passed away on May 20, 2021. Cassidy was born on October 17, 1986 in Grand Rapids to Gary and Renee (Collar) Sias, and was a lifelong resident of the Middleville/Alto area. In her spare time, she loved to read, watch horror movies, and scan Facebook for the latest news and gossip. She was a very crafty person and loved to make hats and mittens, jewelry, and flowered hair clips with her son. Although she was girly, Cassidy loved Jeeps, lifted trucks, and mud runs. She liked to go fishing as often as she could, but only when her husband, Mark, would go with her. She had a quick wit, smart mouth, and didn’t sugar coat anything, but she was a very good and sweet person who would do anything for anybody. Her family will lovingly remember her as a person who stuck up for others, especially the underdogs. Most important to Cassidy was her family. Her children were her whole world, and was recently proudly home-schooling them. She also loved her nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart. Cassidy will be dearly missed by her husband, Mark Vander Poppen; children: Andrew Jacob Sias, David Michael Vander Poppen, Kennedy Elizabeth Vander Poppen; parents, Gary and Renee Sias; siblings: Heather (Mark) VandeKieft, Jake (Shiloh) Sias; grandfather, Donald Bigger; special aunt, Missy (Chuck) Tichelaar; mother-in-law, Wanda Vander Poppen; father-in-law, Mark Vander Poppen; sisters-in-law: Valerie (Larry) Wychers, Rebecca Guelde; cousin and best friend, Jessica Romero; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Elmer and Ruth Collar, Harold and Judy Sias. Friends and relatives may meet with the family on Wednesday, May 26 from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home in Middleville where a memorial service will follow at 7:00 P.M.
