Carolyn S. Harvath

Carolyn Sue Harvath, age 72 of Hastings, passed away on April 28, 2021 at Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center. Carolyn was born on October 16, 1948 in Greenbriar, West Virginia, the daughter of Freeland and Margaret Shortridge. On February 2, 1974, Carolyn married James Harvath, who survives. Carolyn loved her career as a Home Health Aid for over 40 years. She devoted her life to taking care of other people. She loved working in her flower gardens every spring. She also enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, mushroom hunting, games and taking walks with her dog, Sampson. She could often be found singing and dancing, especially to Elvis Presley. Most importantly, she loved her family, having dinners, traveling, playing with her grandchildren, spending quiet evenings with her husband watching TV, sitting in the gazebo, or relaxing on the swing. Carolyn was a strong Christian woman, she loved to read the bible and sing gospel. Carolyn is survived by her husband, James Harvath; children: Rodney Armstrong, Angela (Jason) Armstrong, Melissa (Rick) Bolton, and Jessica Harvath; grandchildren: Adam Harvath, Ashley Petree, Thomas Petree, Zach Bolton, Keegan Harvath, Maegan Harvath, Lexe Bolton, and Jaiden Harvath; great grandchildren: Caden Patterson, Brady and Iverson Harvath, and Avery and Madison Harvath; siblings: Allen, Rosemary, Martha, and Connie; brother in law: Charles (Linda) Harvath; brothers in law: George (Bonnie) Harvath and David (Terry) Harvath; sister in law, Marylon (Dale) Boulter; and her beloved Pomeranian, Sampson. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; mother in law: Betty Harvath, step son, Jamie Harvath; and dog, Simba. Carolyn’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home where her funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at East Hickory Corners Cemetery. A luncheon will follow the committal service at the William Smith Park in Delton.
