Lori Lynn (Evans) Holmes, age 60 of Delton, passed away on April 8, 2021 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. Lori was born on April 30, 1960 in Kalamazoo to Samuel and Glenda (Peck) Evans. She worked for MSC for 18 years as an inside sales supervisor, and at Vanguard for three years as an accountant. Lori was a dedicated member of Doster Community Reformed Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, treasurer, and deacon. She was a published gospel artist and sang in the church choir and also as a soloist. Lori was an artist and was interested in painting and glass art. She was also an art scholarship recipient. In her spare time, she liked stamping, reading, watching sci-fi, collecting angel sculptures, travelling, and enjoying the occasional fancy cocktail. Lori was a very stylish person and was very proud of her nail art. She could always be seen wearing jewelry, and was especially fond of her Black Hills Gold pieces. Most important to Lori was her family, especially her children and grandchildren who will miss her vibrant wit and sense of humor. Lori will be dearly missed by her husband, Elwin “Al” Holmes; children: Daryl Claffey, Amanda (Travis) Nesmith, Samantha (Jesse) Young, Elwin “Jay” (Mindy) Holmes, Erika (Derek) Wykstra; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers, Jeff Evans, Kirk Evans, Scott Evans; many nieces and nephews. Mike & Lorna Olson, Jen and Brian Bishop, and other have sent flowers to the family of Lori L. Holmes.
Though we have not seen each other in years I recall fondly the youth group trips to Michigan adventure where you and Al would always take my sister and I on all the roller coasters. I learned so many new swear words as the coaster plunged down the large hills and twisted round the corkscrews. Your fun & bubbly personality was always a joy. You will be missed my friend.
Lori set such a joyful example of a life well-lived, enjoyed, and celebrated without hubris or envy. Such a role model! The stories we laughed at for many decades -- freezers shoved into trunks of cars, cloudberry liquor incidents, laughter peeling, grandkid adventures, and her love of dogs, friends, relatives, and games to be played. We will miss her, and her spirit fills us with both calm, comfort, and longing. My love and condolences to all her family.
