Arnold Jefferson “Jeff” Newman Jr., age 76 of Delton, passed away on April 7, 2021 due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Jeff was born on January 20, 1945 in Jackson, the son of Arnold Jefferson Sr. and Wilma (Wolf) Newman. Jeff was a teacher at Comstock Schools for thirty three years before becoming a realtor for Jaqua Realtors. He was involved in the teacher union and taught adult education at Delton Kellogg Schools. Jeff owned and operated Forest Shores Campground at Cloverdale Lake for sixteen years. Jeff was very active at Faith United Methodist Church where he headed up the Faith House and Memorial Garden. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and restoring his home and barn. Jeff is survived by his loving wife, Freida (Shumaker) Newman; children: Arnold Jefferson “Jeff” III (Nicole) Newman, Alicia (Jury) Sollenberger, and Brett (Sarah) Newman; grandchildren: Graham, Mason, Jordan, Aaron, and one on the way; brothers: John (Cynde) Newman, Joe Newman, and Jim Newman; and several nieces and nephews. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Jock Newman. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
