Margaret Grace Hook-Bailey, age 89 of Delton, passed away peacefully at Rose Arbor in Kalamazoo on Sunday, January 17, 2021. She was known to most as Markie. Markie was born, along with her twin sister, on June 26, 1931 in Delton, the daughter of Roland and Edith (VandenBosch) Smith. Markie was known for her hard work, big vegetable gardens, and her wonderful cooking. She was employed for several years at Post Gardens Greenhouse in Battle Creek. Family was extremely important to Markie and she will be remembered as a good mom to her children. Markie will be dearly missed by her sons: Gene (Donna) Hook, Rodney Hook, Steve (Michelle) Hook; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; siblings: Harold (Lois) Smith, Helen (Ron) Skidmore; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clyde Hook; son, Roger Hook; siblings: Robert Smith, Clyde Smith, Arthur Smith, and Marion Smith (twin). There will be a private family graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Barry County Commission on Aging will be appreciated.
