Ronald E. Thornton

Ronald Earl Thornton, age 64, went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2021 after a short battle with cancer. Ron was born on April 12, 1956 in Battle Creek, the son of Almeron Earl and Mildred (Pierce) Thornton. Ron was a 1974 graduate of Delton-Kellogg High School. On May 10, 1975 he married his high school sweetheart, Kathleen Frohlich, who survives. Ron graduated from the National Institute of Technology in 1984, and worked many years in the pre-press and printing fields. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and camping- especially with friends and family. Ron was a longtime active member of Cedar Creek Bible Church, where he served in many different ways. A special joy in Ron’s life was his grandchildren and he enjoyed watching their many sports and activities. Ron is also survived by his children: Danyell (Frank) Minier of Boyne City, Nicholas Earl (Rose) Thornton of Coldwater, and Lesley Morgan of Grand Rapids; grandchildren: Denise, Bethany, Riley, Frank P., Brock, Drake, Kullan, and Kaden; and several nieces and nephews. Ron was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David Thornton; and sister, Paula Vincent. Ron’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 13, 3:00 to 5:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Cedar Creek Bible Church where his funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, January 14, 2021, at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place in Dowling Cemetery. Memorial contributions to Cedar Creek Bible Church or Spectrum Hospice will be appreciated. Please visit to share a memory or to leave a condolence message for Ron’s family.
