PIOTROWSKI Paul C, age 80, of Middleville Michigan, formerly of Toledo, Ohio, made his final cast on Thursday, August 6, 2020 aboard his boat on Deep Lake, leaving his family with his final big fish story.
Paul (also known as Pauly or Pete) was born to Leonard "Briggy" and Gertrude "Jean" (Korfel) Piotrowski on September, 7, 1939. He was raised in Toledo and graduated from Whitmer High School in 1957. He continued his education at the University of Toledo.
Paul spent his working years in the tool & die and automotive industry, later purchasing his bar "Another Place" in Toledo. He worked as a realtor for several years when he moved to Michigan to be near his children and grandchildren.
Paul was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer in 1996, he was told to get his affairs in order as he was predicted to have a short 6 months to live; instead he joined an experimental program at the University of Michigan, where his cancer was cured. He enjoyed an additional 24 years of life.
From a very young age, he learned to hunt and fish with his father and many uncles and cousins, many of whom were not only family but his best friends. Family was important to Paul. He taught his sons and grandsons to hunt and fish. He felt it was his obligation to pass along his extensive knowledge of the outdoors and he didn’t take this responsibility lightly. He gave all his boys the tools to be successful; not just the mentoring the skill of hunting and fishing but teaching the importance of family and camaraderie. He could tell a story like no other and loved to make it just a little better each time.
Saying that Paul loved his family was an understatement, he never arrived at anyone's home without a hug and kiss and always left the same way. Social distancing was never a part of his life with family or friends. He never missed an opportunity for a dance at a wedding or a party with his girls, to whom he passed his love of music.
His smile could light up a room and that showed every time he saw his grandkids, who could never do any wrong. He had a bond with them that will forever leave a hole in their hearts. It has been a joke that he loved his grandkids more than his own kids, this may be true!
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William "Bill" Piotrowski, his best friend and cousin James "Uncle Jimmy" Grzywinski.
Paul will be missed by Connie Piotrowski, wife of 28 years; his children Marylynne Licata, Glori (Brian) Rogers, Ronald (Tracey) Piotrowski, Robert Piotrowski, Samantha (Dave) Griffin, and Anthony (Heather) Piotrowski; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. Family and friends are encouraged to attend the Celebration of Life open house in honor of Paul, Saturday, September 5, 2020 at son, Tony's house in Middleville, MI from 3pm to ? Please contact a family member for directions or more information.
