BILEK, Rudolph F.

Rudolph “Rudy” F. Bilek, age 91, of Delton passed away at his home on Saturday, July 18, 2020- just 10 days shy of his 92nd birthday. Rudy was born, July 28, 1928, in Holland, the son of Joseph and Mary (Otys) Bilek. A veteran, Rudy proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Occupation of Japan following WWII. A loyal employee of Consumers Energy, Rudy retired in 1990 with over 38 years of service. Rudy was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, the Delton V.F.W. Post 422, the American Legion Post 484 in Hickory Corners, and the Delton Moose Lodge 1649. In his younger years, Rudy played semi-professional football for the Holland Hurricanes, and dressed up as Santa during the holidays for many years. His favorite saying, especially for technology was, “Just go throw it in the lake”. Most important to Rudy was his family, whom he loved to spend time with. On October 11, 1952, he married the love of his life Phyllis E. Bilek, who passed away December 23, 2012. Rudy is survived by his children: David (Janice) Bilek, Sharon Klaasen, Doug Klaasen, and Brian (Katie) Bilek; grandchildren: Michelle (Randy), Kristen, Nicole (Darrel), Amanda, Craig (Amber), Shane, Colin, Liam; great grandchildren: Tanner, Maddison, Sophia; and several nieces and nephews. Rudy was also preceded in death by his parents and his siblings. Rudy's family will receive friends, Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home in Delton. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Delton. Burial will take place in Cedar Creek Cemetery. We were fortunate enough to become one of Rudy's lake "neighbors" about two years ago. During that time, he developed the most special friendship with our daughter. "Mr. Rudy" as she called him, would always hand her a couple of dollars "because she is so cute" he would say. She thought that was the neatest thing and would return his compliments with hugs, high-fives, or fist-bumps, which were sure to warm anyone's heart as they watched the two interact. Her being 3 and him having 90+ years beyond her age, gave us joy whenever the two of them were together. Mr. Rudy's face always lit up when he saw his little friend nearby, which was a beautiful sight. We always enjoyed spending time and having dinner and drinks together with Mr. Rudy at the Delton Moose Lodge and waving to him whenever we passed him around the lake. He told some great stories and was always delightful to be around. Mr. Rudy's passing has left a hole in our hearts and we will truly miss him and his contagious smile. Three year olds can ask some tough questions and might not fully understand, but please know that Mr. Rudy's friendship has made an impact on her life and ours. Sending our condolences and hugs to the Bilek family and friends. -The Link Family

Sharon and Dave, Your dad and mom were wonderful neighbors, sharing a back yard. I have many fond memories playing with both of you! Your dad was so kind to both Dan and me. I'm sure this will be a difficult time and you will miss him dearly. My heart-felt sympathies from a childhood neighbor. Mary Lynn Kolean Koeppe
