Adam LloWalt Porter age 59 of Middleville, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 12, 2020. Adam was born in Flint, MI on August 17, 1960 the son of Kenneth and Velma (Giem) Porter. He graduated from Carmen Ainsworth High School in 1978 where he was an active saxophone player in the marching band. He enjoyed summer vacations in Boyne City, MI with his family each summer. Adam was introduced by friends and married Susan (Anderson) Porter from White Bear Lake, MN while Sue was on break from a counselor at a Girl Scout Camp in Lapeer, Michigan. He had two daughters whom he taught a love for Christ, caring for others, strong work ethic and building creative projects drawn out on paper napkins. He enjoyed grilling, gardening, eBay, skeet shooting and talking about current projects with his son in laws. He loved visiting friends and family over a hot cup of strong coffee (only whole bean/non flavored) and would go so far to hike the coffee fields of Honduras for a fresh cup. Adam was a machine builder by trade and most notably built robust automobile assembly lines during his 35-year career, retiring from Hill Machinery in 2015. His creative passion for building was a gift he shared with others by helping many with various projects for family and friends. He was most recently building an ATV with his grandsons and built Sue her dream craft studio he lovingly nicknamed “Susie’s Crap Shack”. Noah “Squirrely Joe & Chief Squatting Skunk” happily remembers building models with Grandpa and Caleb enjoyed teaching him to lose at Monopoly. Ashland and Autumn “Grandpa’s little dollies” loved swinging, reading books and sharing snacks with Grandpa. He was an active member of the Church of Christ, and was an elder and missionary in the church for 30 years. His love for Christ and spreading of the gospel took him to the four corners of the earth; including Nigeria, India, Mexico, Honduras, Canada and all over the United States. He is preceded in death by parents Kenneth and Velma (Geim) Porter. He is survived by wife, Susan Porter; daughters: Heidi (Tony) and Emily (Jordan); grandchildren: Caleb (14), Noah (8), Ashland (3), Autumn (2); siblings: Dawn, Dan and Mark (Kay) Porter; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends. Adam’s family will receive friends on Thursday, July 16, 2020 5:00 to 8:00 PM. In compliance with executive orders, masks are required while in the funeral home. Adam’s graveside service will be conducted on Friday, July 17, 2020 at 1:00 PM with visitation one-hour prior at Coman Cemetery 10700 Shaw Lake Road, Middleville, MI 49333. Everyone is encouraged to bring their favorite lawn chair. A meal will be provided by the Church of Christ following the service at 1012 129th Avenue, Shelbyville, MI 49344. I met Adam over 30 years ago and just a couple of months after I met him I had a wonderful experience with him. My wife and I traveled from Arizona to attend a Church of Christ reunion in Michigan. I was a young minister and had been asked to preach and so I was spending time with God in prayer to know what I should preach. a day before the Reunion started I was kneeling in prayer and I was told by the Lord that Adam Porter would be called to the ministry during the Reunion and I was instructed to pray for him. The message was repeated 3 different time that day and I didn't tell anyone not even my wife. On the last day of the Reunion a minister stood up and called Adam to the ministry just like the Lord had told me would happen. I was able to bear my witness to what God was asking Adam to do and he was ordained not long after.
During the years that have followed, I have had many interactions with Adam including 2 different missionary trips that I was blessed to share with him. I thank the Lord for he did to Adam in his life that made him love God so much that he gave his own life to God in service to him. Adam was a blessing to so many people and a dear friend and brother in Christ that was as close as my own blood! When I heard of his passing my heart was broken for Sue and the family but for all of us. I thank God for the time I have shared with my brother and the bond that we shared. Our lives had been made better by this Godly man and his personal touch will be missed by all. I want to finish by sharing the scripture the Lord brought to my mind when I was thinking of Adam. Luke 9:62 ... "No man, having put his hand to the plough and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Adam took ahold of God's work and never looked back. Love and prayers to Sue and your family and the Porter family. Rest well my brother, I will see you again in glory!

Deb and I have so many lasting memories of time spent with Adam and Sue and family. We stayed at their home numerous times, travelled long distances with them, including a memorable trip to Mexico. We will miss the frequent conversations we were able to have with Brother Adam, all while holding on to a coffee mug. His unselfish contribution to activities and reunions held at our church local will be greatly missed. We are at loss to find the words to express our sadness, but we we have hope and Joy that Adam loved his Saviour, and is in His care. God Bless.
