Robert William Getty, age 82, passed away on April 27, 2020. Robert was born on January 6, 1938 in East Grand Rapids, the son of Arthur and Lucille (Johnson) Getty. Robert proudly served his country in the United States Army. He worked as a master welder for Bradford White for over 40 years. He was a member of the Fork River Free Trappers Mountain Men’s Club for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Robert helped build the new water wheel at Bowens Mill. He loved to spend time riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle. Robert was known as a jack of all trades and often tinkered around his home. Most of all Robert loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a caretaker for his wife Lila for many years. Robert is survived by his daughters, Laurie Totten, Terri Nesbitt; significant other, Barb Mann; grandchildren, Jeremy (Angie) Totten, Heather (Shawn) Lustey, Mandy (Jim) Bowerman, Michelle (Jeremy) Frey, Anne (Matt) Huizenga, and Kate (Andrew) Reeder; great grandchildren, Zach, Nicholas, Bridget, Sam, Jameson, Lillie, Soren, and Simone; sister Colleen Cox; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 50 years, Lila; parents; twin brother William Robert Getty. A private burial will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery.
