I first met Mr. Goebel as a Science student at North Western Junior high while he was teaching science and I was in eighth and ninth grade. I eventually became a Science teacher and Mr. Goebel’s style of teaching had a tremendous influence on me. I then, after twenty years teaching at W.K. Kellogg Jr. High, started teaching Adult Ed. at BCPS where Mr. Goeble was also teaching. Mr. Goebel tried to convince me to call him “Dick” but I had admired him so very much as my teacher that he lost that battle and will always be Mr. Goebel in my mind. I am so glad that that I came to know him but I also regret that I put off getting together in the last years, as we both retired, he will always remain one of those teachers that will be remembered. We will meet again in Eternity and I will call him friend, as well as Mr. Goebel. My Condolences, Larry Allen

My name is Peter Ives and I worked with Dick at Battle Creek Central in the Science Department for many years. As colleagues we doubled our efforts to help students achieve their greatest potential. Dick was always there as science department chairman to help out whenever he was needed. He was an excellent science teacher and I enjoyed working with him. He will be missed. I send my condolences to his family.
