Obituary

Bourdo, Gordon G.
Delton

Gordon Glenn Bourdo, age 79, went home to the Lord on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Gordon was born on July 6, 1940 in Delton, the son of Glenn and Dorothy (Foote) Bourdo. Gordon attended school in Orangeville and Delton. He married his love, Frances (Anderson) Bourdo on May 23, 1959 who survives. He is loved and respected by his family, his community, and all those who knew him. Gordon was a logger by trade, a hunter and a fisherman. His happiest days were spent in the outdoors, from the whitetail woods and bass filled lakes in Michigan to the trout streams and bugle laden mountains of northwest Colorado. There was no end to the hunger for adventure that coursed through his veins. His love for wild places was genuine and contagious. Gordon is also survived by his brothers: Bill Bourdo and Jim Bourdo; his sisters: Betty (Bourdo) Tobias and Barb (Bourdo) Czuk; his son: Michael Bourdo; daughters: Sally (Bourdo) Zelenock, and Kelly (Bourdo) Smith; grandchildren: Jeremy Bourdo, Josh Smith, Francque Zelenock, Beau Zelenock, Sequoyah Smith, and Trayton Bourdo, and eleven great grandchildren. Gordon was preceded in death by his brother: Chuck Bourdo; his parents: Glenn and Dorothy Bourdo; his daughters: Jody and Tammy; a great granddaughter, and several aunts and uncles. Gordon’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the Williams-Gores funeral home in Delton. Gordon’s funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, November 7, 2019, 11:00 AM at Thornapple Valley Church on M-43 in Hastings. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Please visit www.williamsgoresfuneral.com to share a memory or to leave a condolence message for Gordon’s family.

It was an honor to meet Gordon , we met him on the 2019 cruise with his wife and about 25 other friends that gathered. We had so many good times on the cruise the week we were all together. My parents are very fond of Gordon & Fran and all the Colorado friends. Girdon you will be missed by so many of us. RIP.

Our deepest condolences to Fran and the entire family with the loss of a prominent member. Gordon was a pillar of strength not only in the family, but also in the community. As a member of the family, I can say we are deeply saddened by his passing and will miss his genuine kindness, strength, support and loving gestures. I don't think he ever called me by name for my entire life, I was just "sweetheart" or "honey". Death can never take a good man away, for, in the hearts of the people he inspired, the legacy remains and continues throughout generations. Gordon left a huge legacy as a leader, mentor, and positive example wherever he traveled. He never hesitated to put forth whatever blood, sweat and tears required for the betterment of his family, friends and community. I pray he is flying high, pain free, with those beautiful eyes and infectious smile! With love and prayers, Ken & Brenda Steele

Our deepest sympathy to Frannie and her family. Gordon always had, and always will have a place in our hearts. He was the kindest man with a heart of gold. Meeting him in the mountains of Colorado was a true blessing. He always had that big smile and his famous word, that I'll always remember him saying, "REALLY". He would always want to know if my son's got a deer or an elk, and if not, he would tell me to take them to a favorite spot of his, where he knew they may succeed. It was never about the money or being greedy, Gordon just enjoyed the friendship of being around people to share a story, a hug, and a laugh. A trip to the Colorado mountains WITHOUT visiting Gordon and Frannie was a disappointment. It was something that you had to do. As I type this message, it's hard to hold back the tears, as Gordon meant so much to myself and my son's, and the memories are untouchable. The mountains of Colorado will never be the same, knowing that Gordon will not be there physically to visit, but knowing that his spirit will always be there somewhere, will make the trip worthwhile. Someday, we will all pass on to our next life, but in this life, Gordon's memories will always be with me. Always your friend, Doc Wise
