Max Alwood Gay, age 75, of Delton passed away on May 31, 2019 at his residence. Max was born on February 1, 1944 to Robert and Marjorie (Alwood) Gay. Max has been a resident of the Delton area for the past forty years. He originally owned and operated Delton Lumber before becoming a carpenter with the Local 525. In his free time, Max enjoyed golfing, going to the casino, and mushroom hunting. Most importantly Max loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his five granddaughters who were an important part of his life. Max is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Knapp) Gay; daughter, Vickey and Kevin Nottingham; son, Max S. and Deborah Gay; granddaughters: Kirsten Nottingham, Mackenzi Nottingham, Alta Gay, Chloe Gay, and Jenna Gay; brother, David Gay; cousin, John and Ande Gay; several nieces and nephews; and beloved cat Chester. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Suzanne Michelle Gay; brother, Robert Gay; sister, Vera Robinson; nephew, Mark Gay; and niece, Jill Woodworth. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 5, from 5-8 P.M. at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home in Delton.
