Maureen Estelle Robinson, age 87, of Middleville, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 in Wyoming, Michigan. Maureen was born February 11, 1932 in Middleville to Bruce and Marie (Weller) Windes. Maureen grew up on the family farm, Hawthorn Hill, and was active in 4-H. She graduated from Thornapple Kellogg High School in 1950. Maureen became a R.N. in 1952 after attending Mercy Central School of Nursing in Grand Rapids. On October 4, 1953, she married the love of her life, John Gano Robinson, and they were married for sixty-five wonderful years. Maureen proudly served as a school nurse in the Lansing school district for twenty-five years, retiring in 1988. During that time, she served as the president of the National School Nurses Association. Maureen was instrumental in establishing the Thornapple Heritage Association and Heritage Days. She created and produced Pumpkin World each fall at S & S Market and was known as the “pumpkin lady”. Maureen was an avid gardener and enjoyed reading, knitting, traveling with Jack, and spending time with her family. Her faith was very important to her, and she was active in the Holt United Methodist Church, Thornapple Valley Church, and the Middleville United Methodist Church. Maureen is survived by her loving husband, John; son, Tom (Joann) Robinson; daughters, Susan Frahm, Cheri (Erick) Meier; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Paul Gano Robinson; son-in-law, Dr. John Frahm; brother, Duane Windes; fathers-in-law: Gano Robinson and Elwyn Hayward; and mother-in-law: Mary Hayward. Friends and relatives may meet with the family on Sunday, April 7 from 3 to 5 P.M. at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home in Middleville. A funeral service for Maureen will be held on Monday, April 8, at 11 A.M. at the Middleville United Methodist Church with Pastor Tony Shumaker officiating.
