Obituary for Carl E. Bowen Sr.

Bowen, Carl E. Sr.

Carl E. Bowen Sr., age 101, passed away February 12, 2019. Carl was born October 12, 1917 in Lafayette, Indiana the son of William and Florence (Kennedy) Bowen. On March 23, 1938, Carl married the love of his life, the former Earlene Narmore, and she preceded him in death. A veteran, Carl proudly served his country in the Army Air Force during World War II. Carl was a life-long resident of the Delton area. He was a member of the Lakeside Baptist Church in Battle Creek, VFW, and the American Legion. Carl loved to be outdoors, traveling, going to races, and bowling. He was a machine operator at Kellogg’s for fifteen years, retiring in 1983. Carl was proud to be independent, living on his own and driving until he was nearly 100 years old. Carl is survived by daughters: Bonnie (William) Myers, Dianna (Francisco Jr.) Mireles, sixteen grandchildren, thirty five great grandchildren; eighteen great great grandchildren, daughter in law, Carol Bowen; and son in law, Donald Ivens. Carl was also preceded in death by his parents, a son, Carl E. Bowen Jr.; daughter, Darlene Ivens; and a sister, Irene Elliot. Carl’s family will receive friends Thursday, February 21, 2019, 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home where his memorial service will be conducted with military honors by American Legion Post 45 at 11:00 AM, Pastor Larry Hendershot, officiating.
