Kerry (Corky) George Wrate, age 64, passed away January 20, 2019. He was born January 24, 1954 in Battle Creek, the son of Leon and Joyce (Bancroft) Wrate. Corky was a longtime resident of the Delton area. He worked for McCormick Enterprises as a millwright at Lifesavers in Holland. In his free time, Corky enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. He proudly owned an old hearse and recently took part in an event that set a Guinness World Record for the longest hearse procession in Hell, Michigan. In his younger years, Corky could often be found racing streaker stock cars. Most of all, Corky loved spending time with his family having fun and playfully teasing. Corky is survived by his siblings: Lonnie (Doneta) Wrate, Wendy Wrate, and David (Julie Ann) Wrate; four nephews; a niece; five great nephews; four aunts; two uncles; many cousins, extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Friends and relatives may meet with Corky’s family on Saturday, January 26 from 2 to 3 P.M. at the Williams-Gores Funeral Home in Delton, where his funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. with Minister Jeff Dowell of Delton Seventh Day Adventist Church officiating.
