Obituary

James D. Robertson
Middleville

James David Robertson passed away on January 7, 2019 at his residence. James was born July 10, 1947 in Hastings, the son of James W. and Betty M. (Potts) Robertson. A veteran, James proudly served his country in the United States Navy where he was able to travel the world. James never met a stranger and enjoyed conversation, being active with the Barry County Fair, and the Barry County Steam, Gas and Antique Machinery Association. Jim was also a member of Middleville United Methodist Church and the Caledonia American Legion. Jim enjoyed being outdoors, working on his hobby farm, hunting, fishing, Percheron horses, traveling, and participating in the Mackinac Bridge tractor crossing on multiple occasions. Most of all, Jim loved his family, especially his grandkids. James is survived by his fiancée, Jeri Lauer; a son, James Robertson; a daughter, Renee (Luke) Haywood; step sons: Jeff (Audra Bolthouse) Lauer and Brian (Dawn) Lauer; sisters: Sharon (Matt) O’Donnell and Carolyn (John) Steensma; nine grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his parents. James’ family will receive friends Thursday, January 17, 6:00 to 9:00 PM at the Beeler-Gores Funeral Home. James’ memorial service will be conducted Friday, January 18, 2019, 11:00 AM at the Middleville United Methodist Church, Pastor Tony Shumaker officiating. Memorial contributions to Middleville United Methodist Church or Barry County Agricultural Fair Improvement Fund will be appreciated. Please visit www.beelergoresfuneral.com to share a memory or to leave a condolence message for James’ family.

His laughter, sense of humor and that little mischievous twinkle that seemed always to be present will stay in my heart and memory. All the adventures and stories he would tell with animals escaping, getting stuck or disappearing and the wild critters causing chaos around the farm! Thank you for helping the kids and I when times were so incredibly tough. Johnny, Marin & I will never forget how kind, loving and generous Jim & Jeri were to us. Until we meet again Jim, keep heaven entertained!! They are all loving you up there!! Much love, Maryrose, Johnny & Marin Giardini
