Bob went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 1, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born August 22, 1968, the son of John and Charlotte (Ashbaugh) Battey who survive. Bob graduated from Purdue University with his degree in Mechanical Engineering and earned his master's degree from Western Michigan University. He worked as a Senior Principal Engineer and Engineering Team Leader at Steelcase for over 28 years helping to drive innovation and excellence in seating design. In his free time, Bob enjoyed camping, skiing, hiking, and all outdoor activities. He was active in the community as a Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 202 in Caledonia, and coached the Science Olympiad team at West Michigan Aviation Academy. Bob was a member of Peace Church and was active in the children's ministry. Most of all, Bob loved Jesus and was a devoted father and husband. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Joy (Smith) Battey; children: Emily Battey, and Joshua Battey; brothers: David (Rachel) Battey and Peter (Ellen Zwarensteyn) Battey; and several nieces and nephews. Bob’s family will receive friends, Monday, February 5, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Peach Church where his memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, February 6, 2018, 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:30-10:30 AM, Rev. Adam Barr, officiating.
