Alvin George McCrumb, age 75, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 10, 2018 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer. Al was born December 18, 1942, the son of Victor and Leona (Volk) McCrumb. Al was a longtime resident of the Middleville area. He worked at Oldsmobile in the experimental design department before becoming a Michigan State Police Trooper for over twenty-five years, retiring in 1992. After retirement, Al worked as the Barry County Animal Control Supervisor, and was elected to three terms as the Yankee Springs Township Supervisor. In his free time, Al enjoyed spending time at his cabin and watching his beloved Detroit Tigers. Most of all, Al was a family man with a big heart who was always willing to lend a helping hand. Al is survived by his wife: Judith “Judy” (Sandborn) McCrumb; sons: Todd (Shana) McCrumb and Steve (April) McCrumb; a daughter: Rebecca (Dennis) Malone; grandchildren: Jake Malone, Morgan McCrumb, Madeline McCrumb, and Marlo McCrumb, a brother: Kenneth (Cindy) McCrumb; sister-in-law: Judy McCrumb, Bonnie (Mike) Jameson, and Betty Russell; brother-in-law: Dick (Marcia) Sandborn, Gary Sandborn, and Kenny (Barbara) Sandborn, and many other loving family members. Al was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Lyle McCrumb. A celebration of life open house will be held at Yankee Springs Township Hall, 284 N. Briggs Rd., Middleville, MI 49333 from 1-4 PM on Sunday, July 8, 2018. Memorial contributions to Yankee Springs Township Parks Department or Barry County Animal Shelter will be appreciated.
