Condolences

Condolence From: Anna Murray Dennany
Condolence: I have been missing Aunt Cack for a long time. She was my favorite because she spent a lot of time in Plainwell where my family lived. She and I were both the receptionists at Murco for a time. All of my kids loved her. Aunt Cack was so easy to talk to, but her sense of humor was trying. You had to figure out if she was teasing, putting one over on you, being self-deprecating, or pretending that she didn't know what you were talking about. She was such a character. She knew Old Plainwell and it was fun to hear her stories. She told stories of what a stinker she was when she went to Marywood Academy in Grand Rapids. I was the matron of honor at her wedding to Don Locey, my mother's brother. (big oops!) I think after Grandma Murray died, she wanted to move into the house on Hicks Street. I wish she had. I lost touch with her when she moved to Austin Lake. When we would talk on the phone, one of the boys were always ringing in. She put me on hold forever. She loved her children more than anything. She was so mothering to the O'Briens and Caseys. One of her most favorite nephews was Stephen. Throughout my life, I had a goal of discovering her secret to baking the perfect chocolate chip cookie. She told me that she used liquid Parkay. I challenged her. That was a lie. Then she told me that she cracked her own walnuts and the oil from them infused the dough. That was a lie. What I did learn is that Aunt Cack never wanted to share her recipes because someone might bake for her and she would have to pretend how good it was. When she complimented me on a cake three times in a row, I knew she didn't like it. Aunt Cack was a gem that we all treasured. I will miss her so much.

Condolence From: Colleen Benjamin
Condolence: My beautiful aunt. She, like her sisters, stepped in to fill the void after our mother died at a young age. Always funny and ready for a good time. She loved to bake, and made the best buckeyes and homemade cinnamon rolls and cookies. She loved her Irish heritage, collecting recipes, finding new trendy diets to go on (to make sure she was SLENDER. ) She loved wAtching the Food network and Animal planet. She loved kids and babies, and was a favorite to all who met her. We liked to say she never met a stranger. I remember shopping with her( she LOVED to shop) and she would talk to everyone on our outings. We always asked her how she knew that person ,and she always would say, OH, I don’t know them”.
She had the best sense of humor, was so kind and generous. She was so good to my kids, and they loved her like a grandma. She spoiled them with her homemade rolls and root beer floats and Plainwell ice cream, and souvenirs from her trips. She was a beautiful lady inside and out. We love you Cackie💚☘️💚☘️💚☘️☘️💚☘️☘️💚

Condolence: I remember Cack with such fondness. She always had a smile and a kind word to share with others.

To all of you who loved Cack and are grieving this loss, my thoughts, prayers, and heart go out to you. I hope that one day soon happy memories will replace the sadness in your hearts.

Sending love.
